It was indeed a great....but all too brief....set from Magenta. So good to see Christina back and let's hope we see them again before too long.

Yes, got there when Magenta were sound checking. Shot off soon after their set as it was a hot day, and needed to get back to check on the hound of hell. Great venue and day by all accounts. Catch up with you guys soon!

Summers End Festival 2014 announces the return of Magenta

"We are thrilled to announce that Magenta will make their fourth appearance at the Summers End Festival in 2014, which takes place the Palmer Centre, Chepstow on September 26-28. Their performance will mark the band’s first full set of music since 2013 following Christina Booth’s recent illness and a brilliant short set at Trinity. Festival co-promoter Stephen Lambe says:

“Magenta were not in our initial plans for the festival for obvious reasons, but we are very pleased to be the first step on what should be a return to normal activity for them. It is also very appropriate that they should play SE X, having headlined the first event in Gloucester in 2005, and rather neatly keeps up their schedule of playing every 3 years, having also performed for us in 2008 and 2011.”

Thes are, in my opinion. Magenta's best. Metamorphosis in particular has some quality prog epics on it but Seven is good as well. I'd recommend the first album as well (production is a bot poor on this) with the most recent stuff being a little disappointing for me.

Very Happy Although i do like Metamorphosis, i actually prefer seven Dave. I think the actual songs are better, and with a common thread running between them and that trill in Christina's voice comes through more. The last 2 tracks are pretty epic..both musically and lyrically too, just a personal choice i guess..it's all good, as they're both great Very Happy

"Magenta are certainly in the same league as It Bites (and Marillion). Surely no one can argue with that." Well I think some miserable and possibly week minded reviewers would and have argued the point, but I wouldn't. I really liked Revolutions, although Rob Reed has said he doesn't think it's their best piece of work, and seven is great too. i'm looking forward to hearing the rest of Magenta's stuff. They're on my ever growing list of prog to by and listen to. I fear there's not enough time in my life or money in the bank. Haha. And let's not forget Rob Reed's forth coming album which I intend to order if I can work out how the website works. Smile Infact someone should start a thread about it if they haven't already. As for the gig, I didn't know about it so many thans for bringing it up. Not sure if i'll make it because of work, but i'll definitely look in to it.
