Is anyone going to the Magenta, Credo, and Ezra bash on Sunday 26th November at the Robin 2 Wolverhampton? Advertised as "A Night of Prog". Tickets are £12.00

http://www.magenta-web.com/

Off topic I know, but there's not much news about It Bites on here these days! Wink

Not the best video/audio quality but I was hooked immediately and bought everything they've ever done!

I'm going to check out Magenta Batchain. THis may or may not be of intereste to you but I saw Credo supporting Kino in Rotherham last year and was fairly impressed. Fantastic standard of musicianship - the guitarist and keyboard player were both excellent. One of the least cool looking bands I know (apart from my own probably!). Their songs were very prog, woith some good hooks, but overall they weren't in the same league as It Bites etc.
In answer to your question though, I won't be going to the gig in Wolverhampton.
Saw Marillion in Wolverhampton though, year ago when I was a student - they played Brave in it's entirety and it was absolutely brilliant.

Nice one Dave; I hope you enjoy Magenta. If it helps, I found their latest album, “Home/New York Suite” more difficult to get into, although got there eventually - strong (possibly too strong) Floyd influence. In contrast, the albums “Seven” and “Revolutions” are instant, if you know what I mean. Like It Bites, the studio albums by Magenta are unlike the live performances, which is why “The Gathering” DVD is probably the best place to start. Had no problems ordering from their website. Magenta are certainly in the same league as It Bites (and Marillion). Surely no one can argue with that. Wink Thanks for the info on Credo. Can hardly wait for Sunday, and then there’s some other band fairly soon!

Rob Reed quote “Revolutions” by Magenta (2001)

“Imitation is the highest form of flattery. This album is the product of a life of influence by my favorite bands. It is an attempt to recreate the magical flavours which they refuse to serve to us today. Any similarities or coincidences with any bands past or present is entirely intentional!”

Magenta influences: Yes, Genesis, Marillion, Mike Oldfield, Renaissance, It Bites, Pink Floyd, Eurythmics.

Good Dave; can you please remind me where I've heard something like the opening bars of "White Lies" before?

PS haven't forgot that beer.

Pure class.
