Apart from the It Bites albums, what are your favourite 80s prog albums? |

Well, I liked pretty much everything produced in the 80s by Rush, Yes, Marillion, IQ, Pallas, Twelfth Night, Peter Gabriel, Mike Oldfield, Camel, Saga, Jethro Tull, Kansas, King Crimson - and yes, even Genesis had their proggy moments in the 80s!
As I was a teenager in the 80s, I worked in reverse, loving albums which were hated by the old 70s prog fans (Signals, Drama, 90125, Under Wraps, Stationary Traveller, Power, etc) and only latterly discovering the older material. |

I don't get much past the early 70's for prog music, and I was in Asia for the middle third of the 80's and rather out of touch.
All that comes to mind for that period is Smallcreeps Day and perhaps Discipline, both of which I revisit with frequency.
And I think Magma's exceptional live albums came out in the 80's.
On the American side of the pond there were the two Giraffe cds (Kevin Gilbert's prog band) but there were only 500 pressings of each and at any rate I didn't hear them until the late 90's.

How does that answer the question? |
FFS
Mike Oldfield - Platinum (ok it was 79, naughty me)
Camel - Nude
Yes - 90125
Pink Floyd - Division Bell
Steve Hillage - For to next/And or not
Ozric Tentacles - Pungent Effulgent
Al Di Meola - Scenario
Tangerine Dream - Hyperborea
Jean Michel Jarre - Magnetic Fields
Brand X - Is There Anything About
Hope that clears things up. |
