I don't have any other social networks in play so this is where I have to crow ...

Just finished the set for The Mousetrap for our community theatre. In the end it was just me designing and building, helped unwillingly by my son and assembly with the help of the other set designer; the whole thing fit into two pickups.

This is the first set I actually had a budget for, which meant paint, door skins and some 1 by 2s. The rest was just scrap wood and inventive genius.

And the snowfall was the best part - an old beater laptop running a loop through a projector onto some wax paper windows.

Here it is.

Peter

Thanks guys!

I had to switch the avi clip out to swf because it turns out the Mac world won't play with the embed tag ... format botheration.

Anyway, it was fun and it would sure be nice to be paid to play like this. I'm hoping to segue into some tech stuff and maybe play in one of the musicals, if they ever do anything I'm remotely connected to. This year it's Reefer Madness and last year it was Suds; both of which I tried to listen to but had to turn off.

The other set designer and I are working together on the last play of the season and we are planning some tech intensive stuff involving projection and scrims.

Being a house dad retired from the money economy means I have to keep busy or else I rattle around the place screaming at the cupboards.

Like those cheaters?

Whenever we go to a 3D movie my son brings the glasses home and pops the lenses out.

The director declined to use those photos in the program because he thought we looked like burglars caught in the act.
