Based in the Edinburgh/Fife area, The Wynntown Marshals (“Scotland’s premier Americana band”- Paul Kerr @ Wordpress) currently seek a bass-player who meets the following criteria:

- aged 25-40
- experienced player with professional equipment (BVs a plus but not essential)
- genuine love of Americana/alt.country (particularly Jayhawks, Neil Young, Uncle Tupelo, Wilco, Byrds, Tom Petty, Ryan Adams, etc.)
- able to commit at least 1 or 2 nights per week for rehearsals in Rosyth (we have a residential room at Substation Studios)
- relatively flexible in terms of availability (we had to replace our old bassist when his new job meant he would be offshore for several weeks at a time)
- in it for the love of the music and not just “for the money”!

So, are you the man/woman for the job, or do you happen to know any bass-players who fit these criteria within reasonable travelling distance of Edinburgh?

In the last 18 months, we’ve toured the UK/Ireland with Chuck Prophet, supported Jason and the Scorchers, and played headline shows in Mallorca and been invited to two consecutive Kilkenny Rhythm & Roots festivals, as well as having airplay on “Whispering” Bob Harris’s Radio 2 show and records released in the United States.

We are currently gearing up for a tour early in 2010 to coincide with the release of our new album (“Westerner”), which has already been awarded 4/5 in “The List” (www.list.co.uk - published Thur 3rd Dec 2009), who liken us to Neil Young and also said “the songs on this extremely hummable debut album carve out a harmony-laden Scottish take on Americana that brings the likes of Teenage Fanclub to mind.”

See www.myspace.com/thewynntownmarshals, PM me, or email iain.sloan@yahoo.co.uk for more information.
