OK, chaps, here's the score from last night's Robin 2 gig:

Kiss Like Judas
Whole New World
Love Will Tear Us Apart (special guest Bernie Marsden)
Calling To You
Still Life in Mobile Homes
Holiday
Tapboard Piece going into:
Charlie
Sister Sarah
Underneath Your Pillow
Yellow Christian
Back in New York City

encore:
Let Us All Go (special guest Bernie Marsden)
Still Too Young To Remember

There were about 190 there, so not a sold-out occasion by any means. The sound was excellent, though, as was the playing. The stand-out musician for me was the Bass player (rock solid, great sound, faultless playing) and guest Bernie Marsden, who played effortless blues to "Love..." and "Let Us All Go". The stand-out song for me was "Still Too Young", which was the best version I've ever heard of this song (yep, I really mean that).

In FD's words:

"The audience were actually quite relaxed and subdued (I think it may have been the intro tape). Some people come to gigs to 'judge' you and others come to join in and have a great night. I had a feeling that there were some people in the audience who didn't really want to give us their full support but by the end of the night I think the sheer musicality of the band won them over."

I have to say I'd agree with this. The intro tape was perceived as a joke by most (it was some hypnotherapist dudess creamily talking about relaxation technique, with FD interjection his typical humourous add-libs at various stages before the band walked on-stage "Go to the Merch Stand, and Buy a CD...").

The songs were delivered well, with excellent keyboard contributions and a killer solo that really showed his keyboard technique. Dorrie was spot-on (and seemed dumb-founded when FD chastised the "Dwarf-Porn Lovers" for comparing her with John Beck).

A humourous section between "Love" and "Calling to You" was when FD brought out the hallowed white Squier Strat, then proceeded to take the tinkle winkle out of his own documentary comments from the OATW recording programme by Equinox (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wI5QCem2fx4&feature=PlayList&p=8BC7AA78123323A4&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=21). Amusing. He kept the guitar on to perform (my favourite on the new CD) rocker "Calling To You", and the band really showed their versatility.

OK, so some of the slower numbers could have done with a minute or 2 shaved off, but that's only my opinion. I think Frank is such a talented musician, I'll always go and see what he's up to... I enjoyed last night, also enjoy the CD, but await future new material with interest.

Well I was there too, and I have to say FD was amazing, the sound was the best that I have ever heard at the Robin 2.
I loved the humour, Dorrie was again on top for, TBH the hole affair was excellent.
I must admit to being in the camp of "Having a good time" when going to gigs.
A++ with a cherry on top !

Cheers sf-69, I'll just check out the train timetables to make sure I would have been able to have got home before sending you the money.

Genesis reference. He's trying to say that the people who expected prog rock are into all that.

Glad I went to the Robin gig. Great atmosphere on the night and it was good to see everyone again. Thanks again for the lift Frog! A highlight was finally meeting up with John L properly and having a good laugh together. And congrats to John for his name-check on the album. Still haven’t got my bloomin’ copy!

B xx Very Happy

Im glad so many had a good time at Bilston, but i cant say i did. Im a part time lurker on this forum and like FD and IB but have to post something just to get it off my chest......

When i go to any gig, i want excitement, whatever the music - not to be told i shouldnt.

Why does FD have an obsession with is bald head? Happens to most men - get over it.

What was the fox about????

Felt really sorry for Dorie after being compaired to JB and made a joke of. She is clearly a talented singer.

I would have bought the CD without thinkingif it was on Amazon etc, but as it was on sale i thought i would buy it afterwards - that was a stoke of luck - 15 quid saved to spend on another cd..

Maybe FD should get back to his roots, and do what he is best at?

Sorry Guys - just had to say these things
