Can I suggest Sinclairs Oyster Bar, its the oldest pub in Manchester , just behind the MEN arena, and next to the Big Wheel. It sells all rare ales, and the atmosphere both inside the four storey building , and outside in its courtyard is awesome . I cant remember where band on the wall is,but it must only be a short taxi ride from there Very Happy

Oldman...it's not really even a taxi ride (unless it's raining!)

Band on the Wall is on Swan Street which is just round the corner from victoria station

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=swan+street+manchester&rls=com.microsoft:en-gb:IE-Address&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=ie7&rlz=1I7ACAW_enGB327GB327&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hq=&hnear=Swan+St,+Manchester,+Lancashire+M4,+UK&ei=7g_CSq7UDoev4QbwgrSLCA&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&ct=title&resnum=1

Bit of a long link there sorry....can put some other very good pubs up if anyones interested....one right across from the venue called Bar Fringe but this may be busy!

Yeah not far to travel! Looking forward to seeing what he plays on the night and also the refurbished Band on the Wall.

We're going on the 30th (Friday) by the way...

I am a tad confused, there are all these artists signing up to the NP,but i presume they will all not be gigging,or they will need to stand on Victoria Station platform Shocked

It was at a house concert in Rotherham,he was talking about abuse by catholic priests, and I quipped "pass me another small boy, this ones split"
everyone laughed, and he was as nice as pie after, but then mentioned this "arsehole" on his blog Very Happy
No offence was taken, its just if I ever go to another,I will not take part in the banter Rolling Eyes
