Hey, I only voted because for me it's a no-brainer - I RESPECT Frank for his work, but I LOVE the stuff that IB do. and 'when the heart rules the mind', as someone once said... Very Happy

Give up on this type of "My dad is bigger than your dad..." kinda nonsense.

Totally and utterly devoid of value.

All 20 of you who have voted so far should be ashamed of yourselves for even entertaining this.

I'd imagine that, seeing as this is the IT BITES forum, that they might "win". 50p says that a similar poll on Frank's forum might yield similarly predictable results.

As I said... pointless.

Also, I can't believe the moderators even tolerated it being posted in the first place.

Go and get a hobby the lot of you.

Well thanks for the advice. Iím quite happy to delete threads such as this if thatís what people really want, although I donít believe it is. As I see it, over the last few days a couple of known mischief-makers have tried (obviously) to derail the tour ďannouncementĒ thread, but with little success. This poll is just another daft attempt to provoke argument. Iíll probably move it into the FD section, which hopefully will prevent things getting out of hand again. If however comments made about JM (or anyone else) start to get overly personal, then rest assured those responsible will be banned; end of. Iíd obviously rather not have to do this. This forum is moderated very lightly and so it should be. BTW, I donít thing itís helpful you telling established members (who have supported this forum and the band for years) that they should be ďashamedĒ of themselves for voting in a poll etc. Just a thought.

Bat

Maybe saying "ashamed" was a tad harsh. However, JM has now been in the band for long enough not to have to endure this "who is better... frankie or JM?" rubbish. Frankly (boom boom) this is boring and tedious and old news.

Also, what was the originator of this poll aiming to do, if not stir up stupid infantile bitching? That was why I was surprised that the moderators (yourself included) didn't see it for the acts of a nuisance that it was.

Your point is taken on board about being 'light-handed' though. We'd all prefer that.

Surely any true fan of the band (or Francis) should be done with participating in this kind of pointless poll by now though? Hence my "ashamed" remark. Aren't we all adults?

Having never endured a line up change, they probably don't have to suffer such retarded debate as this!

Just my ten pence worth.

JM, if it's any 'consolation' to you, the Marillion website has great merchandise relating to Steve 'H' Hogarth.

There are T-shirts and mugs dedicated to each band member and H's says "H: New lead singer since 1989"!?!?!?

Says it all about some folks' idea of 'progressive', does it not?

Actually i may have hit delete instead of edit??! Hmmm!

Anyway, i was only saying it's a free forum and if people want to vote it's up to them?... but for someone who's only just started participating, slowknee - chill!... we've all been here before, when the majority of users were knee-high (excuse the pun) to your post-count! lol Wink

Just a suggestion here. Surley the question would be better phrased. How much would you pay to see it bites and frank dunnery on the same bill? Franks playing king Tutts in October, Rather than have a two bit support act on before hand , Once Around the World is about 45 mins long?? Just get it bites to "support"?? we can live in hope. Opening bids start at £50?

Well this moderator's finger is wavering over the delete button. Utterly pointless - why not grow some and post the same poll on the FD forum to get an alternate point of view?

I hate the FD or JM argument. It's just a band. If you like it buy it if you don't, don't buy it. No offence to Frankie (I love his stuff) BUT, and it's a big but if it wasn't for the effin' fantastic Mr. Mitchell I don't think this web site/forum would exist. I've been listening to OATW today and I'm really looking forward to hearing the new line up doing it. I just hope they do some stuff off TTS too. Holmfirth here I come and I can't wait. Looks like FD may be doing some IB stuff too. Bring it on!!!!

certainly generated some hits on the forum.....it amazes me how much this place comes to life when a little drama comes about.....thats all it is..drama. Bandyace was simply generating interest, however controversial it may seem. New people may join this forum and ask the same futile questions, but how the masses deal with it really determines the ongoing success of the band. This can be quite an intimidating place to "try and join in". Needless to say, it may be enough to put some off going to gigs for fear of either being shunned or tarred and feathered.

We all know this topic has been done to death, but it never ceases to create a flare up..or some adverse reaction.

we all know JM is great and Frank is great and so is Bob and John and blah blah blah.....just wish the gigs were sooner than September...more than 6 weeks and counting.
