From listening to the live album. I was wondering how others felt about the sound of JM guitar. He can seriously cut the mustard, but at times the guitar sounds thin. this could well be amp etc, but not as rounded as it used to sound. or as BD pointed out at the Brum gig " cheap guitars"

Well, I'm composing my own pieces at the minute; quite a unique sound it is too!

Strange how such a good player stays with fairly budget gear.
The JMP1 preamps are very good - a bit dated but I would have expected something better as a poweramp - the valvestate models don't really compare to the all valve models - something like the marshall el84 or el34 would be nice.
The Cort guitars aren't particularly uppmarket - I'd love to hear John using something like a PRS.

His playing is so good that you don't really notice the sound as such, but for a long time I've wondered what he'd be like with some more upmarket gear.

If he uses it on the next IB album, he's free to borrow mine!!

(Offer limited to JM only! Wink )

Didn't FD use a white Squier Strat quite a lot (quite a budget guitar I think)? And on the Eat me in St Loius tour it looks like FD played a black Fernandes Super Strat on the heavier numbers (I have something similar (a fernandes Retrorocket Pro and it isn't at all bad). I saw JM at Manchester and it all sounded pretty good to me. Very Happy

True - he's recorded on the Equinox programme comparing his Fender and the cheaper (Fender) Squire and saying that he preferred the Squire. Personally, for what it is, I think the Squier is a great guitar (I currently have one languishing in the corner of the living room Embarassed )
