Quite a nasty review of the Virgin Album re-issue in the current Issue of Classic Rock by deputy editor Dave Everley. Seems to curiously dislike just about everything up to Eat Me and describes the band as Level 42 with a superiority complex. Quite baffling. Please read a copy and consider requesting a more intelligent reappraisal of the albums via classic.rock@teamrock.com. The trio of albums are not perfect - but the context of the eighties is important - and the band deserve better. Shame.

I'm not sure the band can do any right where Team Rock is concerned - their prog DJ dissed the current incarnation big time and was pretty rude to me on Twitter when I took him to task. I suspect that Team Rock is a pretty lost cause and not worth bothering with - purely my opinion, of course *removes moderator hat*.

Planet Rock, on the other hand (and especially Darren Redick) has been brilliant.

Very Happy I thought it all came under one big umbrella Question and that team rock owns classic rock and classic prog Question it might just be a case of a different persons opinion ( which they're entitled to i guess ) so let them get on with it. I've heard people describe IB as too rocky for pop, and too poppy for rock, and if anything now ..we call them prog. These morons don't like bands that they can't pigeon hole, regardless of how talented they might be. Good job we don't care what others think, and enjoy the music for what it is..brilliant Exclamation Very Happy

And yet the review of the set in the latest Prog magazine (pg 108), the sister magazine of Classic Rock, is both balanced and generally complementary.
I guess IB don't really fit within the genre of the target readership for Classic Rock (from when I used to read it, it mainly featured bands like Zep, Sabbath, AC/DC, G'N'R, Metallica, etc) but albums like OATW are likely to tick the boxes of the average Prog reader - or at least those who were teenagers during the 80s rather than the 70s.

The guy clearly doesn't know the difference between classic rock and classic prog so I wont waste my time reading his review.

Its funny because I was going to subscribe to Prog. Ill not bother now.
