Anyone caught this new series? It's rather good. High drama.

Yes I watched - brilliant. A bit surprised when Mr Bean lost his head though. |

Me too. Even more surprised to find episode 10 was the season finale. Series 2 next May; apparently Bean wants to come back even though he got the chop!

Perhaps episode 9 was a dream and he's still in jail. |

I'm collecting while I wait for episode 10 so we can watch in continuity - besides, the weather is too nice for TV.
Mr. Martin still has two books to go ... be a damn shame to get cast and see your character become a low-life, like Theon.
Person of Interest also has its moments, as does Fringe, and I saw Spooks for the first time last week so I may grab some of the back catalog from the library.

Just watched episode 10. Absolutely outstanding. Can't wait for series 3. Why can't the BBC, with it's huge budget, produce a series anything remotely near this standard?

I've read the books. The first three were great but it tails off a bit after that. I think he's going for word count rather than action now. Sounds like I need to check out the TV version though. |

I agree - the novels are wordy, and his delight in hurting his characters gets tiresome.
The movies work better than the books, gratuitous violence and sexy bits aside. There is sweeping grandeur in the settings and everyone's favourite Lannisters and Starks are fun to watch. And Sean Bean dies yet again .
You lucky ones in England also get to watch the Thronecasts without having to resort to the dark side of the web.

Ermm... I think the BBC are always struggling because they don't have ENOUGH of a budget. I always find it fascinating to watch Dr Who Confidential, where you find out that they manage to do wonders DESPITE the small budget rather than because of it. And if they're strapped for cash, when they've pretty much got a guaranteed audience, it must be even harder to get money for a 'risk'.
And then they go and blow millions on The Voice, weakening my argument somewhat... _________________ Power spent passion bespoils our soul receiver |

That's just looking for offence where none was intended - even knowing what I was supposed to be looking for, I couldn't see the likeness, personally. And as for the US politician calling for people to boycott the series because of it - what a kn*bhead... _________________ Power spent passion bespoils our soul receiver |
