Going to be a cracking night. Look at the link from the venue website. Someone should tell them about John Mitchell...

I was in Bury last week for a football match, I have to say that I seriously hope the venue has no resemblance to the football ground because that was absolutely dire.

The venue is great.. the sound is usually utter s*ite though! I've seen bands who normally have great live sound (IQ, Mostly Autumn and most recently, The Reasoning) sound like they are playing somewhere in the roof at The Met

inabsentia - what is the area like around the venue? I'm thinking curry and parking potential. Cheers

Pretty good for that - it's right in the town centre but loads of parking within a few minutes walk. loads of bars and restaurants too

I usually park on Bolton Street - the curry house on that road is pretty good -or it was the last time I went in 25 years ago!!!

Aw, well if the sound is that bad they could always relocate to Bury... St Edmunds! Wink

(Not giving up on my campaign to get the band out East!) Smile

Just thinking ahead to Friday's gig in Bury. I have never eaten out or had beers in Bury but I'm bringing some new fans along and want to make a night of it. Any suggestions of good real ale pub that does decent food? The trackside looks ok. Any thoughts? Can't wait till Friday. Hope the weather holds for outdoor drinking! Very Happy

Good idea. I met Rob by chance in the Marble Bar in Manchester before a Frank D gig. We both seemed to have the ability to sniff out a good pint, but I'm lost in Bury. Any ideas Rob? Very Happy

Yes, for real ale go to the Trackside (beside the car park of the East Lancs Railway Station). Most convivial!
There's a Wetherspoon's near the venue too (Sir Robert Peel) which keeps a decent enough pint, but.... it's a Wetherspoons! There's a nice ,funky downstairs bar called the Blind Tiger on Bolton Street (next to my Sports Shop!! Wink ) which is worth a look in aswell!
Don't bother with the Yates' opposite the venue!!
