I recently bought an upright electric bass (stick), and was wondering if anyone else has got one, and if so what amplification do you use?

I'm looking to gig with it and will be going through the p.a., but would also like some sort of amplifier/cab behind me.
I don't particularly want to use my normal bass rig (Trace Elliot) as it's not giving me the sound that I want.
Even thought it's purely electric, I want to get as near to an acoustic sound as I can.

Any ideas?

Nope...have you looked at a Phil Jones Bass Briefcase...apparently excellent for upright electric bass, despite it's size.

There's a great bass guitar shop in Warwick if your near the Midlands. He stocks a lot of exotic gear which will most likely be more upright friendly.

Actually BassDirect reckon the GenzBenz is the kit of choice for an upright: http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Genz_Benz_Shuttle_3.0_10T_Combo.html

Cheers Gman - I've seen that place in Warwick. Thought I may pay it a visit.

Cool. It's run by a guy called Mark, he's a great bassist and knows his stuff.
