In the years I've listened to music, I've come across four male vocalists (and or background vocalists) that have blown me away with the capabilities they have with range. I know that there have GOT to be MORE than just this... but this is who I've found.
Mick Tucker of Sweet / Rick Emmett of Triumph / Roger Taylor of Queen / Brad Delp of Boston.
Okay, fill me in on who I'm missing and tell us who you think has the highest pitch.
I'm going to have to go with Roger Taylor myself.

I've heard it said that bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden) has a four octave range, but since I'm not much of a Maiden fan I can't confirm. Sounds a bit far fetched to me, but I have had heard it from more than one person.

Hey Oldman,

I saw Dickinson perform for the Powerslave tour years ago. He had a Great range, but everytime I heard either Mick Tucker or Roger Taylor, it didn't seem to come close to the mark that these guys hit. I STILL wonder how they can do that without hurting themselves.

Aye, yet once again US radio airwaves have kept me from knowing this performer.

sorry guys love him or hate him but prince towards the end of "the most beautiful girl in the world" he hits notes that would almost challenge the likes of mariah carey(spit !). four octaves isnt a massive range for a proffessional singer anyway but i guess you also have to determine "useable range". steve tyler also hits em too listen to "dream on" and i think "cryin"

Hey Miles,

No need to appologize for Prince by any means. Not only is he a prolific innovater in music, but he is also one hell of a guitarist.
I remember years ago when Steven Tyler / Bob Seger were both going through throat cancer scares. I've seen what Tyler can do in concert, and the guy certainly has stamina. I hope I have that kind of mobility when I get that old.

Hey HipHop,

There's never a prejudice where music is concerned...but I have a suspicious feeling that Ja Rule probably wont make the list. We're throwing ideas around about which male artist might possibly have the highest vocal pitch.

Hmm maybe Geddy Lee in the old days, or there's that bit in "Free Will" right after the crazy middle section.

How about Jeff Buckley?

Coming bang up to date, Mika certainly seems to be able to hit those high notes.

Agree with most Geddy Lee , i love early Rush , can see where IB drew inspiration from , but also , i have never met anyone that can sing "More than a feeling " by Boston ( im a karaoke DJ - only got CATH btw Very Happy )
Oh - and i know 1 bloke that can sing Always by Bon Jovi , John has a pretty good range
